Since we moved in we have been bathing in the "guest" bathroom which is only a little larger than a cupboard and contains a leaky shower screen, no mirror and limited light. No wonder I am starting to look a little shabby around the edges.
I have decided to bite the bullet and strip out the whole lot and try and re-build a bathroom with a separate bath shower and vanity. The plans are being drawn up as we speak. In the meantime I have been busy sourcing taps, tiles, etc. I have a file crammed full of uniform bathroom inspiration. On most areas, I am completely certain in my approach.
Walls = white subway tiles with simple white capping (admittedly I do love painted pressed tin or tongue and groove panelling, but I think this will have to wait for one of the smaller bathrooms).
Bath = re-surfaced claw-foot bath in all white (but I am keeping the the original feet).
Vanity = wooden vanity with carara marble bench-top (unfortunately smaller than this one).
Taps = classic chrome and white ceramic taps.
Shower = frameless glass with large classic shower rose.
Lights = vintage milk glass scones and central shade.
The only question in my mind is the floor. The choices are carara marble squares:
OR small ceramic white hexagons for a more french bistro look.
Hmmm. The carara squares will definitely be the cleanest looking option, but is it too boring? There is a solution of course, the carara marble comes in a pretty small hexagon, but at a price to give you a nose bleed I need to think about it.....the dilemmas.
